*His surname was also sometimes given as Ferrara.


      Civil birth records were not made in Sicily before 1820, and neither has any church baptism record been found for my GGGG-grandfather Mariano Alessi.  His existence is known from the death record, reproduced below, of his son Angelo Ferraro.

              the Holy Viaticum, and he was strengthened by the Holy Anointing Oils
