My great-great-grandmother Maria Butera was baptized Giuseppa Maria Butera. Her name and year of birth were corroborated by examining her marriage record and the birth records of her children. The 1824 civil and church death records of her husband Luciano Messina indicate that she was still living at that time, and her daughter Maria Messina's civil promise of marriage states that Maria Butera was (about) 55 years old in 1830.

The first record below gives the date 16 September 1787. The second, starred, record is the church marriage record of my paternal great-great grandparents Luciano Messina and Maria Butera, married on that same day. All the Latin words aren't decipherable, but the critical information is. If the above baptism record is that of Maria (and there are no previous records for a child of Antonio and Onofria, Maria was age 11 years and three days when she married!
