James “Jimmy” Weckerle entered into eternal peace on January 31st, 2019. Beloved son of Marie Weckerle and the late Norbert E Weckerle, cherished brother of Linda Roach, Robert Weckerle, Donna Weckerle, the late Karen (James) Braithwaite, dearest uncle of Susan Braithwaite, Willian Braithwaite, Robert (Christina) Roach, Brian (Killian) Roach, proud great uncle of Magdalene, Gavin, Stella, Shae and Calvin Roach, special friend of the Beachridge Boys, appreciative friend of staff at Beachridge and People Inc. He never considered himself disabled and embraced life’s adventures: travel and camping with his family, visiting the farm in Cohocton, horseback riding, navigating a boat in Clear Lake,TX with his brother Bob, life in Tucson, AZ with his sister Donna, going to Mexico. Jimmy loved watching Bonanza, Andy of Mayberry, Gunsmoke and was thrilled to meet and be photographed with Knight Rider star, David Hasselhoff.
He enjoyed listening to rock and country music. Jimmy was proud of his work as a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Jimmy developed his own unique communication skills so he could talk to everyone. He considered his doctors, staff at sheltered workshops and his group home as his friends and gave smiles and high fives freely. Some of Jimmy’s last words were “me go home” and he is now truly at peace in God’s embrace. A memorial mass will be offered in the spring.
