We also found evidence that Sheila's grandfather Orazio Scinta was from Valledolmo, Palermo province. This was suggested by the 1920 U. S. Census for Buffalo, shown below. Rosaria Greco is listed with the children of her deceased daughter Teresa Greco Scinta: Joseph, Salvatrice, Rosaria, Sam, John and Teresa Scinta. Teresa's second son and second daughter reflect the names of her parents Rosaria Provenzo and Salvatore Greco. According to the Sicilian Naming Convention, Teresa's first son Joseph and first daughter Salvatrice would have been named after her husband Orazio Scinta's parents, implying that their names were Giuseppe Scinta and his wife Salvatrice. The given name Orazio is common in Valledolmo in Palermo province. Review of birth and marriage records for Valledolmo did not find a birth record for Orazio Scinta, but did reveal a married couple, Giuseppe Scinta and Salvatrice Di Carlo, who had children around the time that Orazio is reported to have been born (about 1868). Their given names match those of Orazio's eldest son and daughter. | |||||

Also found the 1875 marriage banns (pubblicazioni) and marriage record (matrimonio) of the siblings' parents Ignazio Salvia and Rosaria Russo. |

The above are CIVIL marriage records. Below is the record of the church marriage of Ignazio (Ignatius, in Latin) and Rosaria. Between the years 1861 and 1925, church marriages were not recognized by civil authorities. Most couples married in both a church ceremony a civil ceremony, to satisfy 'legal' requirements. The marriages usually happened within a couple of days of each other, but in this case, they were married civilly on 2 September 1875, but did not wed in church until almost five years later, on 24 June 1880. |
