Endowment honors for soccer star

ROCHESTER   ---    A   $25,000 endowment   named   for  a Western New   York   soccer  star was dedicat-
ed  Saturday  at
Nazareth  College.

     The    Angela    Coniglio   Women's
Soccer  Fund    will  support  the  pro-
gram   in   which     Ms.  Coniglio    ex-
celled    before   her     graduation    10
years  ago.    She   died   at  age 30   in
1996.

Ms.    Coniglio   held   the   record
for    career    assists    at
   Nazareth,
where  she  played   softball
  as   well
as   soccer.    She   grew   up    in
Am-
herst
   and  became  a  multiple-sport
star    at
    Amherst   Central     High
School
,    accumulating     a     record
number   of   total   points   in  soccer,

field    hockey,   softball   and    junior
varsity   basketball.  She  was named
to   the   school's   Athletic   Hall    of
Fame  in  1997.

  
  "Angela   loved
   Nazareth   and   its
soccer   team,"   said  her  father,  An-
gelo  F.  Coniglio   of
  Amherst,  who
with
  his   wife, Angela Y.,  and   son,
Angelo  R.  of   Clarence,   presented
the  gift.

  
"This    endownent    will   provide    a
fund    to    continually    improve    the
program."    A    plaque  bearing   Ms.
Coniglio's   name   was  placed  in  the
college's
   Otto    Shults   Community
Center
.
